Best Dog gone 2 weeks ~ ever!

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Diane, our pawesomest dear dawggie leader has asked us to step up, change it up and play full out for the last two weeks of the eight week Fall 5% Challenge. During the eight week period, we race against other teams to exciting destinations around the world. It is a blast to learn of new cultures and can really put some purpose in our daily fitness.

This challenge from Diane has me motivated and excited to see what I can do for the next two weeks to further my Spark journey and participate to my fullest for our dawggie team! Through the beauty of Spark reports, I can look back to time periods of my own best success and see what I was eating, what fitness regimen I followed, using this feature really blows my mind!

My DH, Dave and I started playing survivor caveman last year. We adapted the caveman diet to include beans and rice and now have expanded to what we feel is a good diet, including"Mediterranean diet" type foods. We are avid "label readers" now and control our sodium and sugars daily. Through the beauty of my own tracking, I can see where when I followed the caveman diet closely, I lost the most weight and felt the best about myself, overall.

For the final two weeks of the fall challenge:

Dave and I will closely follow the caveman diet, eating mainly fresh veggies, fruit, meat. beans and rice. I am personally going to limit my intake of whole wheat, dairy and rice, replacing with water and green tea tp stay within my calorie range. After all, it's only two weeks!

Spark is sneaky. I have certainly had a lot of changes this past year. The biggest of course, being granted my freedom. No longer counted on to care for and watch out for my elders and their myriad of medical and personal issues, I can see how I could have easily plunged into deep depression. I have been patient with myself, allowing time to "just be" and grieve. Thank God for my teacher, Aunt Vera, I have awoken and found myself well on my way down a new fabulous path. The answer thus far, Spread the Spark!

Dave talked to me about wanting to join me as I jog outdoors, only the best information a girl could hear! (Other than last night, he asked me where I was going, as I was looking so good!?! Seriously? I should have taken a selfie, there I was donning my insulated bibs and a 10 year old turtleneck. I have, however, been feeling good enough about myself for the past few weeks to apply a bit of make up. Actually I've taken time each day to look in the mirror! Maybe that was it. At any rate, my takeaway is, 1) he noticed and 2) after eight years, he still cares! Wow, I just love my life!), thank you Spark! We have already started walk/jogging to the dam and back. Woo Hoo! See what I mean? This sneaky Spark. In order for me to continue to SPARK at my finest, I have to turn into a Survivor-Caveman athlete! Well, it is secretly as I always wanted. Watch out Portland Marathon, I am putting you on our bucket list!

For the final two weeks of our challenge my goal is to jog to the dam and back (4 miles) - five times. We are planning on Thanksgiving morning for one, though I haven't yet checked the weather. Anyone care to join us? It will be a virtual activity. Anyone can join! Just blog a picture of your Holiday morning whereabouts!

Remember, you can't spell CHALLENGE without CHANGE! What are your goals to wind up the fall challenge? Id love to hear them.
See you at the finish line! emoticon emoticon
