I just NOW realized that I do not have Wednesday off this year. Basically T-Day is hitting really late this year so it coincides with the end of the month which is a busy time at work.
Why is that a problem?
Because PEOPLE are coming over for Thanksgiving. Someone is bringing a turkey - one of those fried jobs and someone else is bringing dessert. My guess is that they don't trust a sparkperson to provide the proper dessert and are terrified that I'll set a kale pudding in front of them and they'll have to choke it down feigning delight.
So all I have to do it make cranberry relish, cornbread dressing, sweet potatoes, sweet potato rolls, gravy, green beans w/ red potatoes, and a salad.
All this without taking a day off. Even better we told people to get here around noon.
Oh it gets better, we're signed up for an 8k Turkey Trot that starts at 9:00.
The good/bad news is that I live in the south. That means that while one's worth in society is in fact dependent on one's ability to whip up an elaborate feast while pretending that it took no effort at all, it also means that people will not criticize you TO YOUR FACE.
Nope they'll wait until they're in the car and then they'll say "oh bless her little heart she tries but she's just not much of a cook. Did you see how skinny her husband is, poor fellow."
ah the holidays
