Still walking. Good for me!!

Saturday, November 23, 2013

Did a nice walking today after it warmed up a bit. It was sunny 67 degrees with strong gusts & puffy clouds. Started out with a light jacket but after the first 15 mins. or was wrapped around my waist. Will take out Phred for a shorter walk soon. It rained most of the day yesterday and I had a down day.
Went to have my blood test done for my blood thinners, it was good. My bp is still running high and I am sort of bummed about that. I have never had a problem with high bp until the last few months. I would think it would go down with exercise and losing a bit of weight.

Thursday evening Jeff went to a store called Fry's located here in CA (not the food store Fry's that they have in some states) but a large store like Best Buy but also sells appliances, etc. Anyway his friend Paul spotted a checkbook on a ledge. They brought it home and Jeff gave it to me to find the owner. It was soaking wet and I had to be very careful with any paperwork I found inside.
It had a work ID, along with medical Marijuana paperwork, checks with an address. I tried to find the person using white pages online but only the persons old address in Long Beach came up with a phone number, which did not work anymore. The work ID did not list a place of business, but I checked again and found a check stub dated 11/13/13. I looked the business up on the internet. I called the number, even with it being after 9 pm and was able to leave a message. So the person called me Friday morning and on my way back from my appointment I took it to her place of business. She did not even realized her checkbook was missing, her family had been to Frys the night b/4 my husband and his friend found it. She was so very thankful. She insisted on giving me free tickets to the movie theaters at either Regal/Edward. The checkbook was full of these type of tickets that you purchase from Costco.

So what I can't figure out, is if she lost it on the ground. Which she thinks it fell out of her granddaughters diaper bag. Why whoever found it, did not try to return it, take it into the store, do something, rather than put it on a ledge in the parking lot? My husband thinks people just don't want to get involved anymore. If that was the case, why bother to pick up checkbook in the first place and place it someplace other than leaving it on the ground?

Anyway I was glad to help out. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Who freaking knows!?! I'm glad you tracked her down! Go enjoy a movie with your Hubby and feel good you both did the right thing for the lady. Good going on the walking too! My BP has been a bit freaky in the past month too. Do you take anything like Alieve? Someone just told me that Alieve makes her BP go up. I hate that news b/c Alieve is so effective on my arthritis pain. Keep walking!

It happens allot and I do believe one reason is also they don't know the person and are afraid that they may harm them is they come to the house.

You know, people are so afraid of what might happen to them if they make contact with another person. Todays kids are into the testing mode and they don't have any idea of how to find someone without texting. You were a good Samaritan!
Way to go on the walking!! Not sure I did well on it today. I really had a quiet day and took advantage of it with the cold weather here. Windchills have to be in the upper 30's.

    Way to walk it!
Great work at finding a contact for the woman who lost her wallet. Strange everything was so out of date.
Hang in there, daily walks, twice a day, should help lower that blood pressure!

You are an angel to do all the work it took to return that checkbook! I think that someone put it on the ledge, hoping that it would fall into better hands? (which it did, thank goodness) I think so many people are in way too much of a hurry these days to do good deeds....
Great job with your walking, Teri! emoticon emoticon emoticon
