My New Detox Technique-Making it Taste Yucky

I'm trying to wean myself from caffeine. Even though I only drank one small mug a day, it was slowly progressing to more because I was making coffee taste amazingly delish. Not a problem for many, but I am caffeine sensitive and have tried to get rid of caffeine many times. Cold turkey is just too painful with body and head aches. This time, I'm trying the gradual diminishing and am down to a quarter of a small mug of coffee.

My technique is simple and common sense. I eliminate all the stuff that made the coffee delicious and now just basic coffee. Tastes terrible, so I find myself not wanting it all day.

I've got enough left for one more day. Tomorrow is the grand finale and it's amazing how
so much of this craving is habit drinking. Just like the food if left uncontrolled. Habit eating, habit coffee drinking.

    I always enjoyed coffee too, for many years in fact, but gave it up along with all other caffeine beginning of this year. I found a great beverage called Teecino. It's chicory tea, (they also make dandelion tea which I haven't tried) It doesn't taste exactly like coffee, but it's a very good replacement. It gives you that good comforting taste and feel and aroma of coffee. I get the individual tea bags, but they sell it to use in a coffee maker too. Maybe that would be a nice treat for you too, I certainly enjoy mine. emoticon

    Slowly I think you can do this, just like how we make little changes to our diet to eat healthy.

    We are thinking so much alike lately ! I to have been weaning off caffeine - I just love my coffee - good technique ! I am not sure if I am ready yet to make that step , cause really its a big one ! Feeling much better today - thanks - Hugs Karen

    I am rooting for you. I have been where you are. It sure isn't easy. I only drank one cup a day too and thought my doctor was crazy when he told me I was caffeine sensitive and had to give it up. I could not believe that coffee was causing my palpitations but I quit the coffee and my palpitations stopped. I was like you. I was mostly loving the flavoring and not the bitter taste of plain coffee. I still love to smell coffee though. It is a habit. Coffee still smells like morning to me.
