Time for change

Thursday, November 21, 2013

Well, I've just returned from town, and you will be pleased to know that life has returned to normal in our little neck of the woods. All the debris has been cleared, animals are safely back on their farm, and I suspect that those taking part in yesterday's event (see yesterday's blog if you missed it) have spent today trying to get warm! I'm glad we opted to give it all a miss, even though IMLOCOLINDA thought I should don my bathing suit and go down the helter skelter in the rain.

Today was a much better day. Glorious sunshine once more, and still the leaves stay on the trees. Bronze, copper, all shades of yellow, and lots of red. I checked some photographs from last year - this was the tree that I see from our back door taken exactly a year ago.

See how grey it was? No leaves - and no berries either. Contrast it with today

this was taken early, just as the clouds were clearing and the sun breaking through. I should have taken it later when it was resplendent with blue sky behind.

There are lots of changes happening. Don't worry if you don't recognise me - it's still me, but, as I mentioned on my status earlier, I've had my short hair cut shorter again. Of course, it's really a ruse to try and get the scale to move. It's stuck again. Isn't it strange - the more sylph-like I feel the more the scale sticks at just under 20 pounds lost. I've shared before how things are happening in spite of the scale, and I want to tell you about a surprise I had earlier in the week.

Two years ago I went clothes shopping with our daughter. We went to her favourite shop - and just as we were leaving I saw the perfect dress for me! It was on the 'sale' rail, excellent! As the shop was closing I grabbed it and we left.

You've probably already guessed what happened? I picked up the wrong size emoticon

Two sizes too small emoticon

And to make it worse - because it was reduced I couldn't exchange it

I threw it into the bottom of my cupboard and that's where it stayed until I decided that one of my Spark Goals was to be able to wear it! I did show you on an earlier blog, but you've probably all forgotten.

Well...... yesterday (note, that's before I had the haircut) I decided to try it on.

IT FITTED emoticon

What a surprise!

But then I had another thought.

Now, this doesn't look very much (the dress doesn't look much on the hanger, either, I admit) but I love this top. It's made from a linen mix yarn and I was so upset when I grew too large for it. On the spur of the moment I tried this on too...... HOORAY!

IT fits too!

So the moral is - don't panic when the scales don't move. If you are tracking and exercising, just keep doing whatever you are doing, because it works! I can bend down and tie my shoelaces without having to sit down,, and going up and down stairs is a doddle. Playing with the grandchildren isn't a chore any more because I have so much energy and I still can't believe how far I can walk! I feel so much healthier, My sleep is consistently better, I'm loving my food, and ........

Sparkeroonies. You can read this sort of thing all over Spark. THE SYSTEM WORKS! Just keep going. We know that it's Onwards and Downwards - I've said it before - but as far as LIFE is concerned - it's ONWARDS AND UPWARDS! Who knows what we will all accomplish by the time we reach our goal weight. And as for changes - tomorrow I collect my new specs, so once again you may not recognise me, but I'll be back with something. Have a great rest of the day, wherever you are.
