Another good day on the diet, although I did splurge a little yesterday. Kept it in moderation though. We had a food party for someone who we just hired as a welcome to work, and it was also a quasi baby shower since his wife is about to have a baby. He was a temp for a long time. So I had some cake and maybe went over my calorie goal, but not by much. Then did make the gym and stuck to my easy workout plan and didnít push it due to the overeating. Trying to stay with the plan as much as possible.

Tonight is the next installment of HIIT workouts on the bike. So a nice 20 minute warm up walk on the treadmill. Then 5 minutes warm up on the recumbent. Then hit it hard for 25 minutes or so and a cool down. I know it will kick my butt. I increase each interval by 5 seconds tonight. And while 5 seconds may not sound like much, I am sure my legs will be shaky tonight.

So, I started researching local triathlons. I had hoped to do the Ride Across Indiana which is 160 miles across the state of Indiana west to east in July of next year. And I wanted to add in a sprint distance triathlon in Cincinnati. Not that I will be very competitive in that, more itís something that has always intrigued me. But they are one week apart. And I donít want to push it that much. I figure if I do it, I still need to be smart about it. So I found a triathlon in Muncie, IN on May 10, 2014. The big drawback to that is the water will be cold. Luckily I have a wetsuit, assuming it meet the requirements to be legal. So, something else to research.

So if I complete the triathlon it would give me 2 months to really get the training in gear for the RAIN ride in July. Sounds like I have lots to learn. This serves 2 purposes though. It gives me a goal. One that is only about 7 months away. I may need to put something in between now and then to really keep me focused, the big issue will be the swim. I donít currently have access to a pool. It will also give me plenty of time to become a runner and do it in a smart manner, gives a whole new meaning to couch to 5k in 8 weeks.

Hmm, this will be interesting. I have lots to learn now. Which is never a bad thing. Might need to see if my son is crazy enough to try this with me. Then again he will be at the tail end of tennis season so that may be out.

  Sounds like great plans! I tried the meditation cd last night, I am more relaxed than I have been in a long time, and slept very well. I will let you know if I see any difference in the desire to overeat today. There is another Sparker that has done a lot of biking that lives in Michigan...I will look up his name and maybe he can give you some pointers as far as the distance thing is concerned. I'm pretty sure most of the races he has done or running though. And he's becoming certified to be a running coach.
