hi everyone! yesterday was a lovely day--power is back on, cable, phone and internet functioning. the state park has been closed all week for their annual deer hunt--should be reopened today and I am going to take the girls over for a walk. been doing leslie inside--4 miles Monday and 5 yesterday and looking forward to hitting the pavement on Friday. think I am catching a cold, so trying to mitigate that early on.
yesterday two friends and I went to a nearby town for a shopping fun day. we went to a little diner in middlebury for lunch, then on to Shipshewana for shopping. Shipshewana is a small amish town that has gone big into tourism. the area is home to a noodle factory (which we stopped at and I got some cherry salsa) a cheese factory (loaded up on cheese to vacuum seal and store away) and a lot of fun shopping. we hit the "yoders" mercantile, a combination hardware, fabric and gift place. they still cater to their amish community as well as being touristy, so you can find some interesting and practical items there that you can't find anyplace else. their oil lamp selection, for example. and their fabric selection is quite vast, I don't sew very much, but like most women, I really enjoy looking at fabric. they had some lovely clothes and shoes there too, but nothing I felt I had to come home with. we also went to e and s which is a huge bulk food store. again, nothing I really needed, but it was rosie's first time there and it was a lot of fun to browse the shelves with her. rosie is a cook extraordinaire and she found lots of things that were of great interest to her. i'm sure we will go back another day. rosie and my very dear friend ardene were kind of new to each other, but they really hit it off and I loved watching them become friends. I have such a special group of wonderful friends, and one of my great pleasures in life is connecting them to each other. I have watched some really beautiful connections grow between all these lovely people--and it makes me so happy to see that happen. you can never have too many friends.
so have a great day, all my sp friends!
