Monkeys, monkeys, and more monkeys

Thursday, November 21, 2013

We went to the Sacred Monkey Forest - it was incredible! Monkeys EVERYWHERE! Playing, fighting, eating, sleeping, looking like little furry people with mohawks and moustaches.

Plus, of course, we got in a lot of cardio with all the walking and stairs up and down the ravines, and all that!

WOW what a day!

Monkey business, indeed! One of my earliest memories is the Buffalo Zoo monkey display, about age 2 probably: and as I recall it was "this kind" of monkey we saw. Then I read all the Enid Blyton books and desperately wanted a monkey, like Jack. (Jack also had a parrot, Kiki: I wanted one of those too!) I had to be content with a stuffed animal monkey, which I loved so much it actually went to university with me!

These monkeys are pretty mellow, other than wanting all the benanas! They seemed quite friendly.

Not that I want to give a monkey a hug, or anything.

What a wonderful place, but I think I'd be a bit afraid of monkeys attacking. I've heard that the monkeys of Gibraltar are fierce. One of the birdbaths is especially kaleidoscopic with a ring of leaves surrounding the blooms.

wow, a monkey peeing on the banana merchant, funny for all but the merchant. Guess the monkey was expressing displeasure at not being allowed to have a banana. Or maybe just being a stinker. The story of your DH and the Alpha monkey was funny too.
It's very interesting to see that you can walk amongst the monkeys without being pestered.
Thanks for the interesting walk today. Bali sure is interesting.
