So hubby is now struggling with the plain food that we’ve been eating for the last two weeks. He says it’s ok but there needs to be more variety. Phew! He is so right and has probably saved me from diet failure. So he says can we have curry? Well the trouble with that is the rice. So little rice for so many calories. So I figured we could have boiled potatoes with it. You sometimes get potato in curry right? And an idea I got from the Weightwatchers mini mag was roasting squash sprinkled with cumin seeds. Sounds delicious.
I also calculated the points in some meals/recipes that I will only be able to have occasionally if we’ve got a week where we’re not eating out. Or if I’m extra careful on my points for the rest of the day. Lasagne but without bechamel sauce or cheese, came to 10 points. Apricot Crumble 16 points. 4 grilled sausages, beans & mash made with milk, 16 points, nut roast 16 points. I’m wondering how the nut roast would be if I put more veg in it and less nuts…perhaps only half the nuts and twice as much veg? Would that work?
I have two weeks coming up soon when I won’t be eating out at all, so I’m going to use that time to make more calorific foods at home to use up the ingredients from my cupboard, while I have the weekly points available to use.
And what happens when you reach maintenance? Do you get to eat a whole load more all of a sudden? How do you handle that?
I think the streaks are workng well for me as a motivator. I had another 4 pints of water yesterday. That’s two days in a row now. I think I’ll change the cleaning and gardening streaks to 5 days out of 7. Today I’m starting a streak to get one thing off my “To Do” list each week. I’m sure starting these little habits will help me when I’m working again (I have a meeting Monday to discuss some part-time voluntary work I’m going to be doing, and also have a part-time job to apply for which will be just right for me… I am so hoping I get it!)
When I wake in the mornings I feel less groggy lately. Don’t know if it’s the water, the healthier diet, the exercise, or what. In fact I feel slightly more alert generally speaking. Could be the water couldn’t it?
Thanks to doglady13 for setting the 3 week daily blog challenge which can be found at
16. If I could change one thing about myself, it would be _______. How and why would you make that change?
One thing? I suppose that would be my general fitness. Because fitness means a better quality of life for longer. And to do that I’m going to continue doing what I’m doing now… follow the Weightwatchers eating plan to lose weight, walk, gradually incorporate other types of exercise into my week, drink plenty of water, eat good quality nutritious foods, and only have “treats” occasionally.
Hey I am behind with my sparking so I hope to catch up with you all very soon (today would be nice!) but in the meantime I hope you have a super day.
