Day 44 Rt 66 Challenge: The Nerves &Anxiousness Have Begun

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

I am officially 3 days out from the Route 66 Half Marathon and the nerves and anxiousness have already started setting in.

Because this race is out of state for me, I have already started my packing list. I have planned out my race clothes, set up my playlist on my phone (I usually just listen to the radio on my long runs but there were some specific songs that I have come to love listening to while running and wanted to make sure I heard them during the race) and figured out what I am going to have for dinner the night before and breakfast that morning.

I am SO excited about this race and have been looking forward to it for months. Not only am I thrilled to be running my first out of state race but I have trained for this half like I have never done before. I have run very consistently and have seen my times improve immensely. Even with the cold weather forecasted (low of 32 and high of 42), I really feel like I have a shot at having an incredible run.

I'm getting really nervous too. It's my first half and I'm just hoping my legs will make it to the finish line. You'll do great, though. Just be careful driving up. Freezing rain is going to hit the central part of the state today and tomorrow, so it might be slick on the roads even though it's going to be above freezing on Saturday.

Also, just a heads up, but the low is going to be 22 according to the NWS, not 32, plus a 40% chance of snow on race morning.

I don't know if that changes anything for you and I don't want to freak you out, but I wanted you to know before you got to Tulsa. The forecast keeps changing so maybe it won't be so bad, though

You're going to do great! Just have fun and do your best.
