How did this happen?!

I finally weighed myself. It's been 4 weeks since I've weighed and I knew it would be bad, but I wasn't expecting this. I've gained 5 lbs.! I'm almost back up to where I was back in January (after the holidays).

I'm a little surprised with this number and I can come up with all kinds of excuses, but I know that I haven't been accountable for what I'm eating and my exercise has been sporadic.

I now have to face the holidays 10 lbs. above my goal! I can't join the "gain 7 lbs. over the holidays" club like I did last year. That would be a disaster!

So after feeling sorry for myself this morning, I made an egg white omelet for breakfast (loaded with spinach & peppers) and packed my healthy lunch. No use "crying over split milk" as they say.

I have a lot of challenges coming up, so I need a plan. I work better with a plan and goals (and some kind of competition). I thought about going back to what got me here - Weight Watchers, but I just can't bring myself to sign back up (I made Lifetimers 2 years ago) and pay for this.

I really am tired that all of my blogs recently have been negative and full of complaining, but this is my method of "getting it off my chest". I would really like to be recording some successes right now.

So the challenges I have coming up are: Great Nephew's 1st Birthday on Sunday, being on vacation next week and Thanksgiving.

I will also have a lot of opportunities to exercise next week. I'm feeling really sluggish because I haven't exercised in over a week. Monday we went to a Financial Aid meeting at the high school for DD#1 (very overwhelmed with all the college stuff - DD#1 is a Senior. One good thing is we'll have a lot of information for DD#2 & #3).

Yesterday I took DD#2 to order her letter jacket. She earned a varsity letter in volleyball and also an academic letter (she has several other "patches" - multi-sport athlete and scholar athlete that also go on the jacket). So that was interesting (and expensive), but she's very excited and she certainly earned everything.

Tonight I have to pick up DD#2 from practice and take DD#3 to youth group. DH should be home later in the evening and DD#2 needs to do her vertical training (she missed it this week because of her basketball practice schedule), so I'm hoping to go to the gym tonight and at least run.

So enough of the complaining - it's time to formulate my plan! I've worked too hard and I just can't let this get the best of me (plus I can't afford to buy new clothes)!

    Thanks 4A-Healthy BMI. I had a follow-up visit to the doctor today and we decided to try to lower my slightly high cholesterol with diet and exercise. I have a follow-up visit in February, so I've set a goal to loose 10 lbs. by 2/19 and hopefully lower the cholesterol at the same time (a little added incentive).

    Hang in there. This happens to all of us at one point or another.
