Yes, that is the treatment of choice for my hyperthyroidism. My appointment is Thursday after work.

I would appreciate some prayers and some good thoughts...not looking forward to it but hopeful it will fix the problem.

Otherwise a good day... emoticon

One thing I read somewhere was to suck on hard, sour candies to help keep the salivary glands working properly (or something, can't remember exactly what the purpose was). And definitely drink LOTS of water.

I put a cheapo shower curtain down on my bed and used old ratty sheets and pillows that needed to be tossed anyway. Bought a new toothbrush to use after a couple of days had passed. Lots of showers, changing clothes a couple of times a day. Saved all my clothes and doubled washed them alone after a few days. Finished two books and caught up on all sorts of blogs.

My husband stood at the door and threw bananas and peanuts at me from the hallway. LOL Honestly, it's not bad. It freaked me out, but it was all fine. The hardest thing was keeping the cats away - they aren't used to being shut out of my room! Also, I wanted to crochet but didn't want to contaminate my afghan, so I didn't touch anything like that.

Good luck to you - I had mine on October 29. I'm still on thyroid suppressants with a moderately high T3 and T4 and almost undetectable TSH as of last Thursday. No side effects other than slight swelling and tenderness of gland for which I was taking ibuprofen.

I hope all goes as well for you!

Wishing you the best with the RAI treatment. I am also hyperthyroid and know the treatment options can seem overwhelming. emoticon emoticon

Is this a "one of" or an on-going procedure you will have to have?
SEnding courage your way too, it's hard to try something new and scarey... but then I think of you getting a needle in your eye, and I think you've got to be one of the bravest people I know.
