Remember my Huge, Huge, Huge Decluttering Problems???

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Well, today is a Red Letter Day! No, I am not done, but I had 2 people help me and we made huge improvements! The place is really shaping up. I want to show photos but I need to either fix my smart phone or exchange it for a new one. I have been very lax in showing photos. Some of you folks do a wonderful job putting up photos. I always love looking at them!

I never thought I would get this far along having a clean home. It had really, really gotten bad with clutter and dust and disorganization while I was full time working and being a caregiver to my husband. I am retired over a year now. I am amazed that I was able to have the wood floors done. That was really difficult. But it got rid of tons of dust. And moving everything out of rooms and back in-or discard things-has made a huge improvement. Lately I was able to clean out a few cabinets. that took almost 3 weeks -yes I am slow! But the place is shaping up. You were wonderful supporters through all my anxiety!

emoticon I am feeling empowered rather than totally buried.

I can identify! I have a helper that the agency sends over to help me, and my daughter is stepping in to help me, too.

Clutter hurts.

This is such great news, I am encouraged. I have found as the weight has fallen away I am wanting to declutter.
I started with my bedroom and every time I go to tidy, I start with the bedroom and keep going til I run out of steam.
So far I have decluttered my bedside drawer, my chest of drawers, my closet, under the bed. Only the jewelry to do., and my closet to finally clear out by stripping out the unneccessary clothes and shoes.

But the end is in sight and every time I tackle this room there is less to do.
Next room, my bathroom, won't take long, then the living room. And the hall linen press.
It can be done, and emoticon

You are inspiring me. Our house needs serious decluttering too. There are things I haven't seen since we moved here over 15 years ago and "stuff" everywhere, esp. in R's office space. He's terrible at not getting rid of anything. If we go through it all, we might find Jimmy Hoffa!

I had 2 years where I was barely able to walk, much less keep up with my house after my second husband died. It is so hard to get it back in shape, but each step brings you closer! Can't wait until that weight is lifted off of you. One step, or room at a time!

It is hard to keep the home clean and take care of hubby when you have to take care of him most of the waking hours. Just do what you can and don't worry about the rest. You will get to it sometime.

Not only does it make you feel like you accomplished something but it also feels so good to have it clean! We too have made countless trips to good will and the dump. It's not done but it's looking much better!
