Day 17 - heartburn

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGG...I feel gross this morning. Was up in th middle of the night with heartburn. Pretty sure it is my own fault though.

Around 9 last night I discovered a box of soup crackers in the pantry!! Or as I like to think of them....little squares of crunchy salty deliciousness!!! So I ate the whole sleeve..of course, it is what I do to crackers!!! Anyway they are tracked and put me over my limit yesterday!! And the remaining sleeve is in the garbage....( sorry mom.....had to waste food) Hmmmmm as well, I have been taking that diabetes med that is known to cause GI upset and doing well with little impact!!!! I had read that the biggest impact will be if you eat too much carbs!!! HMMMMMMMM a whole sleeve of crackers....too much carbs!!! God I hate heartburn!!

I remember even before I started taking these meds, if I ate really poorly I would have a lot of stomach issues in the night. I had even resorted to taking zantac! Since eating healthier, I had gotten rid of it. Now it is back, I suddenly remember thinking this was a great motivation to eat better and it did work. Since eating better I have not had heartburn in the night. Or weird stomach issues in the day!! This incident is a reminder that I do not want to go back to that!!!

Certainly a motivator for today though!!! I can't be dealing with this in the night. I am not going to eat any carbs tonight after dinner....sigh that means not having my peanut butter toast snack before bed!!! sigh

Also I am in evaluation mode. Am going to look at my calories in a weekly aggregate from now on just to really see how I am doing. I checked this morning and I notice my calories are creeping up again!!! In the last 6 days I note I have eaten beyond my daily limit 3 times!!! Not a lot but I have exceeded it. Sometimes I think I am doing well and I am not. I need to find a balance! If I goof up for a day I know I should not get too guilty over it and I should move on to another day, but I have to keep learning from these situations as well!!! I am going to monitor my weekly calorie intake as well just to keep everything in perspective!!

Onward with my day.........the burn the burn

Oh heartburn sucks! I used to get it really bad all the time when I was heavy smoker, but now I just get it every once in awhile when I eat something that disagrees with me. Ironically, the main culprit for me was always toast and peanut butter. I think the toast was the real villain. Damn those carbs! Hope you're feeling better today. It is a great motivation to eat better in order to avoid more stomach issues. emoticon
