Amazing and Motivational Stunt (1-Minute Video)

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Sunday, November 17, 2013

This is an incredible 1-minute video. Here are a few things I love about it:

First, it's so incredibly well done that it's motivating to be able to do something this well.

Second, imagine being able to do this at age 53 like this actor -- another motivator to stay healthy and in shape every day. Of course none of us will be doing this type of stunt. But, what's your version of this adventure? We can all reach goals we may have not thought possible.

Third, beautiful song that is also motivational.

Give me a shout below in the comments section to say how this motivates you.

Note: For some reason these embedded videos aren't working on the blog page itself, but do work on the summary page here (if you aren't already on the summary page):

Oh -- from reading about this on the Wall Street Journal, it appears this really is real. They did have some safety equipment you can't see that connected him to one of the trucks in case he fell - and they built a platform by the mirrors for him to stand on -- but still, amazing stunt. I read that they practiced for 3 days, but then had only a 15-minute time window to shoot the real thing because they wanted the sun to be in this exact spot -- and this was the first take of the real shoot.

And as Beachwalker says below, Kudos to the drivers as well!

SparkCheers!

to me the video is more about trust ,utter faith in the drivers etc as van damme has been doing splits for so many years it is almost automatic but the trust put in the drivers having the faith to put your life in their hands that takes alot.i have always been a van damme fan and i still think he is great.we can dream canīt we.thanks for shareing emoticon

Kids, don't try this at home. Seriously though I really like that this guy is over 50. (being over 50 myself) My hiking group has some 70 year olds going on our 8 to 10 mile hikes. Of course I talk to them (to try to find out how they are in such good shape) and they all have a commitment to exercising and eating healthy and practice it on a daily basis. They all feel good in spirit because of this. Some have been that way most of their lives and some of them started after age 50 so it's never too late to get yourself in shape. They also live life and most travel and socialize with friends and have other hobbies. One 70 year old in the group travels staying in hostiles as he does not have a lot of money. He wants to travel so makes it happen. I'm trying to say these people never have excuses why they can't do something. That's a winner in my book.

A health spa I sometimes go to has a 74 year old yoga instructor. To me if you choose a healthy life style you will have a happy life.

So Awesome. I love this stunt and I love the guy doing the stunt. I grew up watching Vandamme in some great kick butt martial arts movies and he has always been known for doing the splits and being able to kick really high.

In a couple of movies you would see him doing the splits with both of his legs on chairs. In Time Cop there is a scene where he does the split on a counter so that he doesn't get electrocuted. As you can see I'm a big fan. For all of you who are not action movie fans you can check Jean Claude Vandamme out on you tube. Some of his movies: Universal Soldier, Bloodsport, and many more. :)
