A Rude slap in the face

I have to stop making excuses for my weight gain....
I read my test results from my Physical and I do not have a slow or a low thyroid....I am right in the middle of a normal functioning thyroid.....I have had lots of complaints about gaining 10 pounds, loosing some of it to only regain.....but now the real truth, nothing but the truth is....I AM EATING MORE FOOD THAN MY BODY NEEDS.....IT FEELS LIKE A RUDE SLAP IN THE FACE....
I am a person who doesn't like excuses, I take responsibility for my action or in some cases lack of action

Starting today I have to eat less, and try and get more active, I already exercise 90-120 minutes a day so I have to find some way to get more movement ....I don't work any more and do know I sit way more than I need too..
I have been measuring my food and cutting out processed foods as well but that is not enough....I am going to ask my new Doctor if they have a nutritionist , or some sort of weigh loss classes, I need some help with getting a handle on this situation .....

So no more excuses, even though I feel cold most of the time, my skin is dry, my hair is thinner , I don't have the energy I use ....I DO NOT HAVE A LOW OR SLOW THYROID....I MUST FACE THE FACTS....I NEED TO EAT LESS CALORIES....FIND FOODS THAT SATISFY ARE HEALTHY BUT HAVE LESS CALORIES....

I will figure this out, as I will never ever give up....I WILL NEVER EVER BE THE 350 POUND WOMEN AGAIN .........

ANY ADVICE, TIPS , HELP IS ALWAYS WELCOME....

    Kitt, you've gotten a lot of good advice from folks about tracking your exercise and nutrition for a month and then considering whether you need to return to your doctor or not. You've given yourself a good little shake, just remember to be gentle with yourself. You're the New You, it may take some time to figure out what the New You needs to be at her best. Don't give up, but don't beat yourself up. emoticon emoticon

    Thanks for the great reminder of " no more excuse. " we all need to hear the word sometime to check ourselves of what we are doing or if you are fallen, get right back on the wagon.

  Please do NOT cut down too much on Calories about the exercise as Pat in Maine suggested to do strength if you do not do any drink enough water & change your exercise even the intensity hope have made sense

    You're doing the right things, Kitt. Just keep doing them and you will tackle those 10 pounds, like you have tackled everything else. Keep it in perspective, though, and don't starve or hurt yourself. Eat healthy, exercise healthy, and you will be fine.

    KITT you have so many fitness minutes do you ever do any Strength training. I find if I walk and strength train I am losing tenths of pounds but after a very long time Mixing it up is beginning to help. You can do it. Perhaps you should ask to be referred to an Endocrinologist. Take care I am here for you. emoticon emoticon HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon

    You have already determined what you need to do to get this under control! It sounds like a key factor may be that you no longer work. More sitting down. Can you volunteer somewhere that gets your body moving or figure out an active hobby that will get you moving as much as you used to move at work?

    well something else might be not right so can you have a few more test done to rule out everything?

no slapping yourself ---we are all human and do the same thing..

have luck with your doctor mine is chunky my age and said I do not need to lose weight errr..

    I agree with Diane, if you are still having symptoms, the doctor needs to find out why. A few years ago, my mom had a TSH done which showed she was in normal range, but because she was still having symptoms, her doctor then did the Free T3 and Free T4 that turned out to abnormal. She was was put on a low dose of thyroid meds and after a few weeks started feeling better.

    Thanks Kitt! I needed that too! It's easy to let things slip and when we do the pounds creep on too. I need a wake up too. I tend to eat more sometimes than I need . . . especially since the cool weather has hit . . . I crave the heavier carb food over the fruits and veggies! Time to get back to the basics!

    My DR just did my 3 month thyroid test & we finely got it in the right range. I am still cold, dry skin. Right now I am at a Plato with my weight. Staying steady at 179 which is better then gaining. I do also do walking with Leslie Sansone DVD'S or just walk in place to music.

I have been eating a lot of home made soups that I make & freeze for the winter months. It is so simple to make as I just add all my veggies that I have left in the ref. plus if I have any meat I throw it in also. I also make potato soup, split pea I don't use store chicken broth as it has too much sodium. I make my own or I just use water. I also cook my dry beans all kinds & freeze them for later use.

You are doing great. You might be doing too much exercising per day. I was doing any where from 45- to 3hr's of exercising & I was told that I was doing too much which was hurting me from loosing weight.

Eat healthy, finds foods that you like & eat what a portion would be.

    Kitt - You know what you need to do or not do. That being said however, I also agree with what Diane7786 says in that you might want to be very, very careful for a month (tracking all) and if you don't lose any weight in that time, then you need to return to the dr. The range that they give you for thyroid results is just that: a range. Just like a weight range. While some people might feel good at the top of that range, others might be more comfortable at the bottom. I have a thyroid disease myself, so I know that this is true. I have had to stand my ground with the dr a couple of times and say, "Well if I'm within normal range -- I would feel better if I were just a little further up in that range." Sure enough, a small boost to my thyroid dosage made a great difference!

Trust yourself. You didn't achieve all this not knowing what you're doing!!!

    Your doctor said you don't have a thyroid problem. Why weren't your symptoms of feeling cold, weight gain, dry skin, thinning hair and low energy diagnosed? Did your doctor check your Vitamin D and magnesium levels? If only a TSH was ordered and not a Free T3 and Free T4 you could have a thyroid problem. My suggestion is you track your food and exercise for a month. If you don't lose a few lbs and feel better, make another appointment with your doctor. Take your summaries and a detailed list of your symptoms. Be persistent! You deserve to fee good.

I am right there with you. I am struggling right now as well. We can do this one step at a time and one day at a time. I am trying to be more active since both kids are at school now. I am trying to cut back on my bread, pasta, and potatoes.

    Hang in there. emoticon I know for me personally when I am extremely active I need to eat more food or I don't lose or even gain. When I add more healthy calories I tend to start losing again.

    I really appreciate your honesty and spirit. You are doing a lot of exercise every day so I would look at your food choices. Also, for me, I am drinking alot of water every day and that is really helping. You are incredible!! emoticon
