Vacation from a Different Angle

Sunday, November 17, 2013

My mom is on vacation right now. It is the first real vacation that she has taken in a long time. When she made the plans to take this vacation she had asked me to join her. Unfortunately, my school schedule was not compatible with her travel schedule. So, she is traveling with my two teenage nieces, rather than her daughter. We have been in contact via phone from the get go and I am enjoying every minute of communicating with them. In some ways it feels as though I am still on the vacation with them even though I am not. I am enjoying supporting my mom via phone and keeping in touch with the girls. It is definitely a vacation from a different angle.

It is good you are able to keep in touch with your mom and enjoy the vacation along with her.

I bet your mom is enjoying time spent with your nieces and it's nice you can keep in touch with them. Maybe another time you'll be able to go with mom.

you have a positive attitude and glad you are enjoying your vacation as best you can . I love that I can Skype with my daughter while she is at college who knew that a 20 dollar device could bring me such joy. it is the next best thing as being there just like your vacation

I hope she doesn't wear those teenagers out! I used to go on holiday with a group of pensioners and their energy was just incredible. They all got up at the crack of dawn and still stayed up past midnight. By the end of the holiday I was exhausted. Aren't we lucky these days to have so many ways to keep in touch.have a good week ahead.

Good for your mom for going ahead with her plans. Hope she is enjoying herself with two teens - they can be a blast! And good for you for not being too disappointed about not being able to go. Staying in touch and having a vicarious vacay sounds almost as good to me (I'm not a good traveler!)

You have a great weekend!
