Saturday Walk

Saturday, November 16, 2013

Well, temp. went up today and Buddy and I got out for our "dam" walk... first time in well over a week... I can't believe how fast endurance and pace can go down. I was 1 hr. 25 min. walk and only did 5.5 km...and I was really dragging my butt... supposed to be a couple days of warmer weather, I better get out there and take advantage of it.

Had nice coffee date with a friend from book club, phone call with my neighbor and went out for a drive with my niece, and a little bit of shopping.... busy day.... then a long call to my mother....

Thank you for ideas on mice.... we have a trap out, but my niece also told me she knows someone with kitties..... hmmm? yes, litter boxes and medical bills, and as dh says, they also destroy furniture, so sounds like they will have to find a home elsewhere.

Did anyone see the show (available at on the Sextortion of Amanda Todd. She was a 12 y.o. teen who committed suicide in B.C. after on-line bullying etc.... very eye-opening.... and educational, not to mention, what an excellent job of research the reporter put into it.... A "must-see" for anyone with kids or grandkids or if you are in the school system..... PLEASE WATCH!

Happy Thanksgiving to American friends....

Thought: Harvard happiness expert Daniel Gilbert explains it:

We are happy when we have family, we are happy when we have friends and almost all the other things we think make us happy are actually just ways of getting more family and friends.

Sounds like you had a good day. Weather here was good as well and so I got to go for a walk as well. It is raining again today, although the puppies got out for their walk, I missed mine because I had to go to school. Guess it will be the elliptical for me tonight.

You're feeling better finally! Glad you got out and about yesterday. For me, it was a day of class and a baptism and shopping for mom. Nothing exciting and certainly not active!

I have had cats for the last 30 years. My grandkitty still has her claws (Daughter's boyfriend doesn't believe in declawing). There's one spot on the laundry room door trim that she got, but that's it. All my other cats had their front claws out. They were still great at catching mice and birds that got into the house. I always kept my cats inside because I didn't want anything happening to them outside and then have to tell the girls. When kept inside, it's very rare that I have to take them to the vet. They really don't need shots because they're not exposed to anything from the outside. Luckily, there are a lot of Humane Societies around here. They have vets and their rates are really cheap. I

I grew up with dogs and never thought I'd have a cat. The first one we got was because the girls' dad's uncle was moving and couldn't take her with him. He had a bit of money and she was a purebred Tiger cat. She thought she was a person and actually made a sound when she wanted me that sounded like "mom". People would come over and ask who was calling me. That got me hooked. They train themselves to use the litter box, usually aren't fussy about what they eat, don't have to be let outside, and I could leave them overnight and not worry about them. I know I'm rambling ~ I just love my cats.

I have seen stuff on Amanda Todd before and I think that the person(s) that bullied her should be charged with her murder!
