SC Challenge #3 - eat without distraction

Saturday, November 16, 2013

A bit of a pain this one! It fell on a Friday - our eat in the living room night while watching our shows. It is the only night I watch TV and eat at the same time. Except snacks and this is dangerous... One of the last challenges was to 'turn off the lights' after supper clean up - close the kitchen. I did that and enjoyed it. I am trying to make that a habit. It cuts down on the night munching.
As it turned out it was OK. Hubby had school work to catch up on so the TV was off anyway so I just set the table and supper happened without a hitch. Then I watched shows we don't normally watch together.
Lunch - I normally do my spark coach program at lunch so eat at the same time. I forgot my black berry today so focused on what I ate. that worked because I had home canned salmon on Ryvita crackers and avocado. It was so yummy I really did want to focus and enjoy it.
Breakfast - I pack a breakfast on Fridays so I can eat after my fitness class. I usually prepare the night before - raw oats/tritical (granola if I have it made) with fruit, yogurt and almond milk. Then drive somewhere that has a nice view, sit in my car and enjoy breakfast with a view, have a coffee and mentally prepare for my day.
So all in all this was a good challenge for me. Even though I do it as a regular habit, it was good to take a mindful approach to it. I think I will make a habit of eating lunch then sparking after. It felt good to let the mind relax.

I like what Jackie said...wish the kitchen had doors so we could lock it up! emoticon
We have a bad habit of eating our meals watching TV. Not good! We should do that eat only in the dining area and turn off the lights when done. I am going to approach that idea to my husband and I dont' think he will like it. He is really bad with the snacking too!
emoticon on your challenge and changing how you eat! emoticon emoticon

That is a good challenge, Glad you did well with it. I like closing the kitchen. I always have it all cleaned after dinner, but then I get up in the morning and it is not the way I left it. Wish the kitchen had doors so that I could lock it up, LO. Oh well, it is not me in there so that is good. emoticon

You are doing so amazing :-)

I've always heard -
eat dinner sitting down (never standing, or on the go)
and have tv off
and concentrate on what you're eating so that you don't overeat!

however.... I'm not the best at that :-(
