My Story so Far

Saturday, November 16, 2013

The road to a healthy lifestyle has not been an easy one. I started off at 148 a few years ago, and in March I was around 127. I was still not eating healthy, and had lost weight by just lowering my calorie intake to around 1200 per day. I was not happy with what I was eating, and was always stressed out by it. I decided to change that and began going to the gym 3 days a week, and focusing on developing healthy eating habits. I got down to around 120 this way, and was still not completely satisfied with things. Over the summer after I graduated college, I decided to try Insanity for the first time. I still think this is one of the best things I could have ever done. I completed the first month and recovery week, but then began graduate school and did not have the time to finish month two. I was disappointed with myself for not finishing it, and began unhealthy eating again after this. I have not gained any weight back, but have lost a lot of the tone I gained from insanity and healthy eating. This past month I have began doing kickboxing twice a week, going to the gym and doing cardio and weightlifting twice a week, and attempting to do Pilates at home two days a week. I am also getting back on track with healthy eating. It has been an adjustment trying to stay on track with such a busy schedule, and I think I am getting back on the right track again, and hoping to keep up the dedication and motivation required to make this a total lifestyle change.

You can do it! School very easily can get in the way, so I recommend creating a dedicated time in your schedule (like a class), where you are at the gym or at home doing pilates, etc. That's what I did in college and it worked wonders. Whether it is a M/W/F "class" or a longer T/H "class", make sure it's in there! For healthier meals, I can only stress PROTEIN!! I didn't get in enough protein and now that I've added it back in to my diet, my overall mood has increased, I'm sleeping less (ie, have more energy), and the weight is coming off again.
