Fall in Love with Fitness - who me?

Friday, November 15, 2013

Ready….Set….Go…. and push me to keep on keeping on. I’m so excited with my great start in my FALL back into fitness, and yes, pun is intended!!! Today is Friday - day 4 of coming back, getting back on track. I have stayed true to my commitment of 30 minutes per day, 4x’s per week - completed - and I still have time left in my week.

I technically begin “again” this past Tuesday, 11/12/13 (just like writing that date, can you tell emoticon) and officially wrote my commitment here on my SparkPeople Blog, the next day, Wednesday, the 13th. So now I have decided to switch my weeks around a bit, from Sunday to Saturday. I like to split up the weekend days into different weeks so I can splurge if need be on Saturday, but not feel dejected as Sunday becomes a brand new week!!! So guess it’s fitting that my 1st week will calculate shorter with only 5 days over the normal 7 days. It’s sort of like not counting the 1st weekend in - whatever makes sense to me - emoticon any way I want!

My weeks timing also coincides with a Bible study I lead that promotes a healthier lifestyle change. We meet on Saturday mornings with a program called 1st Place 4 Health. I have everyone weigh-in emoticon every Saturday so it’s a little like WW but without points or added fees. If you’re interested in knowing more about this program you can check out their web site at http://www.firstplace4health.c
om/. The site also has great healthy recipes too, under references.

I did just reset my fitness goals from over a year ago - back then I was in a boot camp and doing overkill. Ya and you see where that got me - a year+ off schedule - again! Ok - old habits die hard but NOT this time around. I set SMARTER goals this time and sticking with this!!!

S = Secific (who, what, when, where, and why)
M = Measurable (descriptive measures in define quantity & quality)
A = Achievable (in my control & influence)
R = Realistic (instrumental to my health & fitness)
T = Time-bound (target date of 13 weeks - 2/11/14)
E = Endurance (my determination)
R = Rewarding (health, fitter, firmer by living a healthily lifestyle)

With just one more day of this my short 1st week I am of course still a bit pumped… But it’s only been 4 days - emoticon dah! I do not want this to be like previous times when I get so wildly excited, so much so that within a few weeks I have burned myself out. And yea, return back to old habits!!!

Although in reacquainting my self around SparkPeople and noticing all the really great updated changes made here I did find a hidden pearl. The pearl - the new Spark Activity Tracker - emoticon - how cool is that! I have heard of other technology gadgets similar - like Fitbit that track steps, calories and such. Even WW has come out with a tracking gadget, but also has a monthly fee… Previously when I used pedometers I loved the challenge to complete my daily goals. But I never had one that either kept working nor did I know which more expensive one would work better so just gave up on them totally. But I do remember every day was like a game in getting in my steps so I’m thinking…(can you smell the smoke emoticon from the cobwebs?) Yep I’m thinking of just biting the preverbal the bullet, as they say and just order one. Just think of all the benefits: less time recording my fitness tracking; more accurate fitness data to encourage my progress; and the ability to make it more of a game than a exercise challenge to get all my daily goals in. emoticon Can you tell that I’m just a little excited??

Thanks for all that are Sparking out there and let us all brighten up the world in a healthier way and let us begin TODAY!

    I too started off gung ho doing 1 hour dance aerobics or zumba almost every night. I hurt my shoulder, stopped a while, hurt my foot, stopped even longer and now I'm trying to slowly get back into exercise. Try, try again, eventually we will get there. emoticon emoticon

    Good for you! I like you, split my week-end into two different weeks. I do it from a Bibical point of view!

You just reminded me I need to restart my exercise routine. Here is my old book written many years ago by a Physical Therapist. I used that book for years. I guess I haven't throwen it away before for good reason. When using it for years I found I could tone up my bod even w/o dieting! Just think what I can do with it and watching my food intake!

WE CAN DO IT!

Hugs,
Janet
