Certainly, nobody that matters would be disappointed in my Disney Wine and Dine half-marathon performance last weekend. But hereís the skinny (or not-so-skinny, after the race was followed by five days of vacation binging):
- 8 minutes slower than the last half marathon I did (Philadelphia Rock and Roll half marathon, September 2012)
- A little under 10 minutes slower than time PR of 2:00:54 (April, 2012)
- 15 minutes slower than my goal time
Disappointed, yes. Surprised? No. Running has been a struggle for me all year Ė Iím all out of whack since I am so inconsistent nutritionally. I think part of the problem was that there wasnít a time in 2013 that I WASNíT training for a half-marathon, which is a lot of pressure. Iím kind of relieved that itís over and I can work at my own pace.
If you are going to run 13.1, Disney is the place to do it. Disney has me convinced I may even be able to do a full marathon some day.
Disney was supposed to be my last half-marathon butÖ it wonít be. Not with my 1:55:00 goal still out there. But itís time for me to put more effort into healthy eating, which means maybe a smidge less time at the gym. This might also free up some more time to get back in to blogging Ė between training, saving feral cats, and my day job, Iíve been neglecting Wheat on Trial. I think Wheat is going to win the appeal, or the whole case is going to be thrown out due to mistrial.
