Struggling with healthy eating

Friday, November 15, 2013

I'm struggling lately with making good food choices. I haven't been writing down my challenges in my journal. I have hated food shopping lately. I don't feel like cooking. The good news in all of this is that even though I'm not doing as well as I was before, I'm not doing terribly. I still make better choices than before. I'm eating more vegetables. I'm eating less junk.

I am going to focus on getting some recipes for quick, healthy meals that I can make when I'm tired. I'm also going to get back to my journal. When I write in there about my food struggles, it helps me to make better choices.

Yeah, I agree about having some quick meals to reach to when you're tired: that has been a similar struggle for me as well. I've stocked up on bags of spinach which is one vegetable I could eat raw or sauteed in butter in a pan which will give me my daily portion of vegetables. I also have chicken strips by Perdue which could be microwaved, and some chicken/turkey cold cuts for sandwiches.

What to do? Am often on the go.

Have a good week! Good luck with making your food choices. You're doing good.

It sounds as if you've acknowledged where you are, answered your own questions, and have a sound plan! It doesn't get any better! We really are our own best teachers, aren't we?

We all get in the dumps and aren't inspired with food from time to time. Recommend making some healthy freezer meals for days when you don't feel like cooking. I also like to use a crock pot so its started in the morning before I get exhausted from my afternoon workout. A refreshing smoothie with extra protein (powder or yogurt) will fit the need and won't come with any guilt. Food is fuel. Gp burn some calories and you'll be more likely to stick to choosing healthy food fuel options so that you aren't wasting all that hard workout effort.
