I Love to Dance

I don't run. I can say it's because of my knees, but really it's because it's boring. Even with music it's boring because it's just a basic repetitive movement, pounding torture. Running is competitive in a way I choose not to compete. And I'm slow, and people (like my ex) like to ask how fast I run, how many min mile, what's my time for a 5k (I've done a 5k twice), so they can compare themselves to me. And they're always faster. So what?
Running is not the only way to get fit and lose weight.
I like to dance. It's fun to shake my butt, shimmy, grapevine, do-see-do, Charleston, hip-hop, cha-cha, slide, every thing I can't do when you're running. Dancing makes me happy, and I smile...another thing I can't do whilst running. I feel young & sexy when I dance. There's something nice about getting your body moving in sync with other people; I feel a camaraderie and sense of belonging. I feel relaxed when I'm done. I look forward to the next time I can dance (not running!).
I'm a big fan of history. Luckily, I have the type of job that I can listen to podcasts whilst I work.
Podcasts are similar to radio programs. You can subscribe to podcasts, so a new one automatically downloads to your computer. The free and easiest way I know to get started it by using iTunes. How to download podcasts:
The British History Podcast
The History of Rome
12 Byzantine Rulers
Stuff You Missed in History Class
Shakespeare's Restless World
