Today my 2 year old granddaughter told me she wanted to play with the blocks with the letters on them. I got out the ABC learning blocks that have letters and numbers on them and dumped them on the floor in front of her. Immediately, she started stacking them to make a tall tower. She was so proud as her tower got taller and taller. She told me each letter or number as she stacked them. I marveled at how much she was learning by playing with these block. She was learning her letters and numbers, great eye-hand coordination, stacking skills, balance, focus and concentration skills. Suddenly the blocks fell. I held my breath, but there was no burst of tears, no angry stomping, no uncontrollable tantrum that is so typical of the terrible twos. Instead, I heard her sweet little voice say, "Try, try again......" And that is the most important lesson learned from blocks!!!!! When the blocks fall, just start stacking again!!!!
