No Pie Apple Pie

Thursday, November 14, 2013

It's that time of year, the season of pies! And about any kind of treat you can think of!
So naturally my four yr old has been asking for pie, with ice cream. Well I'm not bringing a whole pie into my home let alone a tub of ice cream with it, cause.....well I'm sure you know why!! So I had stumbled onto a recipe on spark for microwave baked apples, I had never heard of such a thing! After some research an a little experimenting I discovered that its delicious!! And you don't need nearly the amount of sugar most recipe call for.

So last night I gave into my sons pie requests....sort of. I told him if he got all smilies at school today we'd make a crustless pie for dessert. Well he was super good (funny what the promise of sweets can do), and I was immediately asked what a "no pie, pie" was and when he got home.

My little guy helped wash and dry the apple, watched me core and peel.

Then he helped mix frozen blueberries strawberries cinnamon and a tsp brown sugar (not even sure we really needed any, but probably kept from being to tart, and most recipe want several tbsp!!) he then packed his apple added a little water to help make a sauce from juices and we nuked it for 4 min.
He thought it was cool to watch the apple bubble and shrink.
He was so proud of himself!! Gave him halve to eat with a little whipped toppin
he devoured it,

said it was super good and just like a pie
"More?".....

Fun,tasty and healthy.

Wow, very cool ! The apple looks great and your little guy is soooo cute ! Way to go resisting the pie yourself. Unfortunately I made a cake this week to make sure I have the recipe right before I make one for a work event and I admit... had a sliver or two..

I saw that recipe, too, and printed it. I haven't made it yet, but looking at your pictures is making me want to bake those apples SOON. Thanks for the photos. Your little boy is delightful.
