Remission and Flat tire

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

What a combo huh? Today we received the greatest news we could…Daddy is in remission. For those that don’t know - Daddy has small cell lung cancer. It was diagnosed while still in the limited stage (meaning it had not spread). We don’t know how long this will last…but I intend to celebrate it every day that it does! We go back for a check up in three months. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers

Now on to the flat tire - As we were leaving the doctors office, I thought the car felt funny and wondered if I had a flat tire…then the car seemed to be ok so I drove down to the bottom of the hill to the gas station to get some milk. (about 1/8 mile) Daddy went in to get it and after he came out I backed out to leave….I felt something again and put it in drive and went about 3 feet and knew something was wrong….got out and checked – and yep - flatter than a fritter! And off the rim…I don’t know how bad it is damaged…my husband – who came to rescue us – took it back with him to work to see if he can fix it. I will know when he gets home. (and yes, I actually can change a tire myself, but it’s much nicer to just be able to call hubby to come do it for me – and besides…Daddy didn’t want me to change it and I had to agree or he was going to try to change it!)

The flat tire would usually just ruin my day – but not today – today it just made me laugh. Nothing compares to the fact that my DADDY IS IN REMISSION!

edit - for those wondering - tire was ok and it is back on the car!

So happy for your Dad!! Glad the tire was fixed! I can't change a tire, but have road service, just in case! Came free with our car! Thank goodness or I would freak! Glad it didn't blow out on you and cause you to crash. I have seen a car do that before.

That is wonderful news about your dad being in remission. My husband battled esophageal cancer for 3 years & the best advice I can give (from experience) is make the most of every min. you get to spend together.

I'm sure you and your father thought the flat tire not so important after getting the wonderful news of his remission!

Will certainly keep you and your dad in my thoughts and prayers.

So glad your hubby came to the rescue.
