FIL is settled in an assistant living facility.

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

My Mexican girlfriend who I met and was one of my nurses has started an assisted living facility. She found a place and loves it and had been writing to me to let me know she was going forward with her plan. She wants me to help her with her business. Which I will love to do when I get back. She has also been my FIL's nursing service while he was down for the count after his back surgery. Anyway it all worked out that I got to talk to her yesterday while she was at my FIL house. She and I talked about her taking FIL to her facility at least until we get home. Well the good news is that he loves her and wanted to go as he doesn't want to be alone right now. So last night was his first night in the facility. We will call him to see how he is doing as she emailed me with a number. But it might appear that this will become permanent. At least this way he will have people around him and someone to cook for him, etc. The cost is like $20,000 pesos per month which is roughly $1600 per month US dollars. It includes all meals, transportation to doctor's appointments, internet, Satelite TV and such. So for sure the price is right. I am praying that this works out. If so, we will sell the house we had bought that he was living in.
I do hope all of you are doing well and having a great week.

sure wish the US had prices like that, my MIL is in assisted living and pays $6K a month it's robbery speaking of which, someone there keeps stealing things from her room, and 'borrowing' without asking. It's horrible and it smells bad too.

Wow! Amazing how God presents us what we need at the time we need it. Sounds almost too good to be true. Happy for your FIL that he enjoys the people that will be
taking care of him. That is so important.

So nice that he is being looked after and has other people around him. It must be a relief to know he is comfortable and has round the clock care.

That is great! It is such a relief when our loved ones are happy and can make the choice for themselves. This has to help you enjoy your time here in the States with your family.

Are there as many regulatory hurdles in Mexico as there are in the US?
