Ways to spice up your Optifast.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

I have been having fun finding ways to spice up my optifast. I don't like diet drinks so I only use either coffee or water to mix it.
For the chocolate optifast: 1. make it Mocha with coffee,
2. add a couple of pinches of cinnamon
3. add a pinch of chili and a smidgen of cayenne pepper.

For the Vanilla Optifast: 1. Make it a vanilla coffee.
2. Add freshly ground nutmeg.
3. Add cinnamon and it tastes like Horchada.

To the chicken broth add: tumeric, cayenne pepper, or curry powder.

World Market and places like that have torani syrups that you can use as well. When I was on all shakes, I used to make the vanilla ones with sprite zero because it gave some oomph to the flavor and it lightened the whole thing up so it wasn't so heavy. You just have to make sure you have a big enough shaker cup that the fizz won't pop it open. emoticon

The better coffee shops have flavour syrups in variety of flavours - strawberry margarita, Irish cream, amaretto, chocolate, caramel, etc. They're 0 calories for 2 tbsp and they mix well with either shake.
I also used mio or crystal lite drops. Around Christmas, a few drops of peppermint extract is great in the chocolate (be careful, peppermint is strong. More than a couple of drops can be overwhelming.
Also, if you make your shakes in a blender, throw in a handful of ice cubes. You can make shakes almost as thick as McDonald ... and almost as tasty.
