Moved again!!

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

I am so sorry that I have been out of touch, but let me tell you it has been crazy!!

I had another attempted break in, let me tell you this has not been fun!! Thank goodness I know the local PD and they do not think I am crazy!!!

The door for the attempted break in is in the back and my pups hang out in the front (looking for me) , now after careful consideration I believe that the first attempt was loud and Jake came around barking loudly scaring off the intruder (Yeah Jake!). The second attempt appears to be quieter and then they were scared off again, or so it appears, more than likely by Jake (Yeah Jake!). Annie was more than likely hiding in her shrubs (Yeah Shrubs).

This is the door after second attempt. This isn't the dogs, no claw marks.

After that attempt I started to look for new housing, hopefully closer to work!! Old home was 30 minutes out (small towns, but still far out), first rental (home that was broken into twice) was still 30 minutes out. I lucked out and found a rental in town where I work and I was one of the first to respond to the ad. I lucked out and the landlord rented the property to me after talking/visiting for 10 minutes!! This is a $175,00 savings!! Drive time to work is 3 minutes!!

I contacted old rental company via email, detailing the many problems (break ins, mice infestations and lack of lighting being the top complaints) and I was able to get out of my lease.

New home seems to be working out very well! I now live in a tri-plex (middle unit) and I love one of my new neighbors and his kids, no clue who other is as they never, ever, ever, ever, ever leave their home! Oh well.

I had a comment that stated this: I'm not sure how you do it, but you (me) continually fall into crap and come out smelling like a rose! This is turning out to be true!!

Before I moved I started to train the dogs to be in crates....

On my first test run Annie tried to eat her crate.....

emoticon

I then decided to go with my gut instinct, dogs loose in house with access to crates, and it has worked!! Dogs are in the townhome on a "wait" command with crates open and when I get home all is fine. This is day two and I have had zero problems!! FYI, this is for 10 hours, for those who disbelieve or think this is inhumane, well those same dogs last the same time whilst I sleep!

My new place is two story, lots of exercise for pups and me on the stairs!! I also have a large lot that I can run the pups in nearby.

Before leaving the last rental I found some roses in the yard, I considered them as a goodbye

Some pics from my new place:

Backyard

My old computer desk broke....

New desk

I then found these:

New linen shelves

New table

I am very happy at my new place, 3 minute drive to work!!

Pups are doing good!!

Annie's first day!

Jake's first day!

Pups are happy, I am happy!!

My dogs LOVE those crates. Some people don't understand that dogs in nature live in burrow-like places, closed in, and feel safe...like their kennels make them feel. They like knowing that three sides are safe and they can see the "intruder" on the open end. When I say, "Let's go to bed" they all run at full speed to their crates.

Well, sorry about all the turmoil, but glad it all worked out for you! And that the dogs have adjusted too. if they don't bother anything, I wouldn't close them in either. I tried that with CHarlie, and he started to snatch things after a couple days. Will try again when he's older.

I am so glad you found another place. Having 1 breakin is enough to scare the daylights out of me, 2 would be overwhelming. And you found a place that allows you to have your dogs with you. In this day and age, that is quite an accomplishment. Good for you!

Glad you are close to work. (I really hate my drive!) I hope this place is safer. Glad you had the pups to scare off the intruder. I don't know why people have to be so crazy. I'm hoping you are happier here. Love to the pups!

Wow, I am so glad you found a new place! You probably feel safer too. I'm so glad you took action on this. Your new place looks great and I'm glad the dogs are adjusting.

You can't argue with the commute time either. Just think of the gas and maintenance you will be saving!
