Jetlag really has never been an issue for me (guess all that moving between countries did something right). Australia and America are around 15 hrs different, a difference between night and day. The change in climate was my issue coming back from this trip. First we went from 90F in the USA, to 30C in Australia, and finally on our return we came all the way down the low 20's F at night! Yikes!
So for now the husband and I are taking it easier seeing as our immune systems are still a bit lower than normal after the vacation and the temperature drops. (Not to mention the lovely heat pump 'moose call' wake-ups throughout the night. ha-ha)
Thankfully I was encouraged by the sunshine today and decided to venture out like an Eskimo into the cooler temperatures. Okay so maybe it wasn't that cold but I'm a wimp... ^_^ I'm sure I gave the neighbors a good giggle though with my sun-kissed skin and mixed up winter weather gear.
Today I managed to clean inside the house - that counts as exercise in my books.
Walk the furry baby for 1.2 miles in under 20 minutes.
Run just before the sun went down (gorgeous!!! )
Gym bunny workout at the gym (aka lifting weights) for about 30-40 mins
In Australia we didn't have the chance to eat as healthy as normal (my gf is a bit of a non-health food eater) since we normally went to places without healthy options. But we made due as much as possible and managed to eat at least one healthy meal a day. Now we are retraining our minds, tastebuds and stomachs to do the right thing and lean towards fruits and vegetables. You can see what I ate in my shared food log.
Lunch consisted of a bowl of this for leftovers- so delicious! Recipe on my site.
Mind: I'm feeling so much better today than the last few days. It's been mentally hard on my to return to our country lifestyle after being with family and friends on our adventures in Australia. We had one week we traveled to Sydney and Canberra but then we went North to our family's hometown and visited with everyone there. It was great and I loved all the people around but when we returned, I felt like to returned to solitude. It's very hard on me mentally but I'm working through it with exercise and healthy eating. Plus the furry babies are always a great help in this area.
I'm thrilled about today and hope to continue getting fit and eating healthy throughout this week. It takes around 2 weeks in my opinion to really get into the swing of things but I'm taking each day as a challenge to do better and get back into the hang of life outside of vacation.
