Veteran's Day Adventure

Today I had my walking-adventure-progressive-
lunch date with my son, home for the weekend from grad school. We had a great time. Note to self, though: I really still can't do caffeine! At least not in Dutch Brothers large carmelizer amounts! I feel so jittery right now, and have a caffeine headache. But other than that, we had a great time! Drove to town from our small farm, and parked at the local Thrift Shop. Walked from there to the neighboring town where I had a gift card to a Mexican restaurant. We chose to walk on the train tracks instead of the highway. It was an hour walk, and included a trestle, which I had never realized was there! My first time walking over a trestle, a bit of a nerve-wracking adventure! We shared a yummy chicken fajita meal, which cost me 25¢ plus $1.75 tip, after the $10 gift card. Not bad! Then we walked an hour back to the Thrift Shop, where we donated 3 large grocery bags of clothes he can no longer wear, since he's lost so much weight. We also purchased a lovely shirt and pair of slacks for him, for the remaining $6 cash I had taken along. Then we walked 45 minutes in the opposite direction to Dutch Brothers, where we used another gift card and each got a large carmel latte, which I had non-fat, and should have also gotten decaf, but oh well. Still have $3 left on that gift card. Then made a quick stop in BiMart to buy him a pair of 32X32 jeans (he used to wear something like 38 or 40!), and then walked BACK to the Thrift Shop to get the car. Drove to Subway to use my last gift card for a BLT sandwich, which we brought home for supper. Not the greatest day, nutrition-wise, but this is an almost unheard of rare occasion for us. Hardly EVER go out to eat. And we walked for over 3 and 1/2 hours, which felt like some pretty good exercise. Lots of fun time to talk. Truly a memorable occasion.
