Not soon forgotten exercise

Monday, November 11, 2013

emoticon So, exercise with the kids is fun, right? Well,. my little daughter came home from school all excited because she had learned to run in to jump rope (you know, when two people turn the rope and one kid jumps). She really wanted to show me how she can do that. I praised her highly and told her that when I was a child, I never quite got the hang of that.
So the next day my husband brought a long rope home from his school and we took turns turning the rope and jumping. Not me, though, because I'm shy.
The next day, we were all out there taking turns. Even me, because I was feeling brave. emoticon At first, I tried to run in, but ended up immediately stepping on the rope or jumping with one foot and then stepping on the rope or some other variation of that theme. emoticon But still I persisted until I could run in and actually jump.
Then I had a brilliant idea. emoticon I could attempt to run out.
I tripped, and did an award-winning superman dive emoticon straight into the rocks. Now, these are not small rocks. These are over a foot in diameter. And they're close together. And they're not smooth surfaces.
And what do I have to show for it? NOTHING! A tiny scratch on one finger and one knee and some sore spots. Not even a bruise. Because I am apparently superman. emoticon And I'm proud to say, that the rope didn't hit me on the way out. emoticon
