In my previous blog post I talked about my dilemma in advancing my 10 minutes a day streak in some way: do I simply extend my gazelle time or add on something new for 10 minutes?
Many suggestions of switching up the two, alternating them was good but that doesn't increase my time - which is MY goal.
I hadn't thought about how the timing of doing the wall slides could affect my time on the gazelle. Great point! So I won't be doing them back to back.
I do want to keep doing the gazelle daily. It's very helpful in keeping my larger joints moving safely.
I need to do some wall slides - per my physical therapists & doctors - to strengthen my legs and improve stability in my knee joints. Today I can only do this for about 2 minutes before I'm feeling too much stress & pain in my legs.
So my answer to this dilemma is to build upon my current gazelle time now, add on 10 minutes there. It will be a challenge to do 20 minutes in one session today - 15 is completely doable so I'm starting there and pushing for 1 more every couple of days. Until I can actually do 20 minutes in one session I am going to get on the gazelle two times during the day for 10 minutes minimum. The first session is where I will work on increasing the time. The second session will be early enough to not affect my sleep.
Meanwhile, I will do some wall slides at least 3 times a week with the goal of getting to 10 minute sessions. When I get to that point I will consider adding it into a daily routine.
Thanks to all of you who sent me such wonderful ideas!
