Soaking up some culture

Monday, November 11, 2013

It has been wonderful to have DD staying with us but unfortunately life goes on and she decided to move back to Europe - Holland this time. She will be here for 1 more week (time flies!!) We wanted to show her more of Mexico than just our coastal area, so we took a 3 day trip to Alamos, the old capital of this area, established in the late 1600's when silver and gold mining was at it's height.

We had a wonderful time, lots of walking the ancient cobblestone roads, visiting the museum and touring some of the old homes which were all beautifully restored.

Church in Alamos

We ate all our meals out, wonderful fresh food and I even shared a flourless almond chocolate torte with my DD

One afternoon we drove up to the Mirador which overlooks the ancient town and the country side around it.
DD and I - on top of the world :)

Looking good! Adult children are such a blessing when they visit. Did you make the flourless almond torte?

Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing. So glad you are having/had a wonderful time with your daughter. Will she be nearer to your Mom now? I know you most likely would have loved her to find something closer but you must have done a great job to make her such an independent gal. Good for you.
Have a great evening.
Sallie
