Veteran's Day "Double Honor"

Monday, November 11, 2013

I love everyone who served in Our Armed Forces in ANY way today and always. My Daddy was a lifer. He's still alive and well! He went in at age 17 before he graduated high school. An Air Force Sergeant when he retired decades later. I'm proud of his choice to fight for freedoms of America and so many more! My uncle and cousins as well served proudly. Honor the Veterans DAILY! We would be demolished if it were not for THEIR sacrifices. ALL of them sacrificed much. Double Honor is their portion. How beautiful it is to lay down a life for another! That's in the Bible!

Double honor you deserve…
Because you acted when you heard…
The cry of those in the way of harm-
You were ready to storm-
Answering the call to stand-
Protecting your fellow man;
Near and far…
You shined brighter than the stars-
Risking your life…
As the tears of a wife-
Husband, and family fell…
Your actions tell…
A story of courage that empowered you-
Risking your life too…
Losing it…not a few;
How honorable to lay down…
Your life for God’s Crown-
He sees all…
You stand tall-
For what came to be…
Is the liberty-
Of those weary and worn…
Shattered by fear and torn-
Double rewards you will receive…
Because you fought for others to be freed…
And traded your life-
To fight…
For freedom…
Your names ring out in the Kingdom-
For there’s A Book-
That you will look…
Into and will never wonder-

What a beautiful tribute to your heroic father and other veterans. I always feel the family should also be recognized for they do so much while their loved one is away. God bless all.

Tell your Father thank you. Both of my parents are Veterans, my husband is (and still currently serves), and hearing of other proud military families is always very heartwarming. emoticon

Thank you my sister, I have done 26 years of faithful service, sometimes I go unappreciative of the effort that I have done...but this warm me up today....
I too left at 17 ---- my children don't know the sacrifice I went through so they may have an easier or rather more productive life.

What a beautiful blog and wonderful sentiments about your dear Dad!
Happy Veteran's Day to all! I appreciate our military and all veterans of all conflicts/wars for what they did and sacrificed for the rest of us to have the best country and freedoms we enjoy here in the USA! emoticon

We have many veterans in my family too. My ex husband is a 27 year retired Marine - Vietnam Veteran, my father a Korean Army Veteran, my brother-in-law an Army Vietnam veteran, and I, too, am an Air Force Veteran. For all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice including my oldest cousin, David, who was killed in Vietnam and whose name is on the Wall in DC, I thank you.

Giving thanks for YOUR sacrifice as well, Deb. As a military daughter, you shared your father with all of us.

Hugs for you, and hugs for him!
