Working on my health factors.

My assignment for Spark Coach is to work on other health factors besides weight loss. I choose stress. Im pretty mellow most of the time, but there are times when I let the stress get to me and Im sure it affects my blood pressure and other things.
I watch my grandkids ages 6,4,2 and while I love taking care of them, there are times when they stress me out! For example Friday when the 2 year old was very tired but wouldn't take a nap. She whined and cried all afternoon. On top of that my daughter was 1 1/2 hrs late picking them up. What I usually do when this happens is rock her in my rocking chair and sing to her and she goes to sleep. I didn't do that that day and I really don't know why but I could have save myself some stress had I rocked her. Plus rocking a child to sleep is a stress reliever anyway!
I need to be aware of when I am feeling stress and think of ways to deal with it, not just plow on through the day. I will check my blood pressure each week to see if it is being adversely affected by stress.

I agree, stress is something you need to be very protective of yourself about.

    When I am stressed, I try to do a quick workout if I can. Pilates or yoga always help with the stress for me.

    Great reminder for the rest of us. I usually just continue plowing through the day without giving any thought at all to the reason I'm stressed or what I may be able to do to improve the situation.

    Stress can definitely cause a lot of health issues!! There was a point where I was ready to quit my job because the stress was getting to me!Thank goodness some things changed at work to make the situation better and I cut back on my hours so that helped too!I sure hope you find a way to deal with your stress! emoticon
