Day 1

Day 2

Bah hah hah....

I'll keep it short as I gotta go get a few more supplies...

Turtle Puppy (that's her name as much as my husband's is "Mr. Turtle" hehehehe) is a rescue, ~4-5 years old. Soooooper cute. She's very laid back (see above LOL) and we are settling in well so far.

She didn't eat last night, but I've heard that's normal when in a new situation; sometimes they need a couple days to relax. She ate half her breakfast this morning so we'll just see how she does, plus I can ask the vet at her checkup how she seems.

The only thing she does that I'm not new-owner-research-prepared for, is during feeding. She noses her food all around & whines a bit, and shakes & seems either frustrated, upset, or maybe excited? We're going to try ignoring her & see what happens tonight for dinner. But she DID eat some this morning, so it's obviously not some sort of crazy emergency.

Anyway. YES. I HAZ A DOG!!!!!

Thank you for the comments. :) I expect I'll be on the internet a bit less this week - busy with work + puppy - but I did see them & love & appreciate you all.

Aw cutie patootie. She'll settle in - it sounds like she's been through a lot in the last few weeks. No wonder she's sleeping so much. I love people that rescue animals. So I love you.

Did it just get creepy in here?

Nice to hear that doglet is doing so well after such a short time and so many changes. With all of that hubbub in her life I'd be on the lookout for signs of canine PTSD! But she sounds like she is settling in really well.

    Thanks peeps!

They SAY it's the food she had before... not sure I buy that. They reviewed the adoption history with us briefly @ the adoption event; hearing them talk about the foster home I assumed she'd been there for a while. However, I was reviewing her "dossier" this morning - all the papers they gave me - and she was apparently spayed on 11/6 in SOUTH CAROLINA.

They said she was rescued in Georgia, so if that's true, in less than a week she has been:
1 driven from GA to SC
2 spayed & vaccinated in SC on 11/6
3 flown to NJ ~ 11/7 (her "transport date" on the local rescue)
4 lived in a foster home 2 days tops?
5 dragged to a petco on 11/9 - crammed full of people & other dogs, loud crazy busy too many smells!
5 given to total weirdo strangers & driven to a new house

She also looks like she may have had puppies pretty recently, poor moosh. Supposedly she was "rescued from a breeder".

No wonder she is out of sorts & sleeping a lot! She's in great spirits considering!

Anyway. Based on her behavior when we are in the kitchen/ at the table, I would bet cash money she at some point lived with table scrap spoilers! She gives up fast though- we are unyielding. ;)

Also, she ate her whole dinner except for 2 kibbles tonight!! We felt like geniuses, lol. Mr Turtle was like "...I think I might cry." Hahahahahaha.

Great to see an update, and don't worry about being MIA for a little bit. It's kind of like having a kid -- you disappear for a while, but everyone knows it's for a good cause! Give her a squeeze from your SP friends and check in when things settle down a bit.

My DD LOVES dogs and has convinced us to get a Ganeraskin, which is an Ontario breed. They're really sweet and calm and are often used as therapy dogs. They're also hyperallergenic and have hair, not fur, which was a must in our allergy house.

Have fun with your little furball!

when I got Bingley, he wouldn't eat his food hardly at all. turns out his belly was full...of WORMS! A quick trip to the vet for deworming fixed that.

Question though, are you feeding her the same food she had before you got her? it could be she's just not used to the new food. if that's the case, she'll eat when she gets hungry.
