Renn Faire visit

Saturday, November 09, 2013

Plex and I decided to visit the Carolina Renaissance Festival today. We were there for 4 hours, and saw so many wonderful people and items! We didn't wear our garb, as I can't find most of it since the move. It may be in the storage unit, which is packed to the ceiling with items we can't bring here to the house.

We are currently living with his mother and grandmother while we get on our feet and save to buy our own home. It's not terrible, as I generally get along with my mother in law, but that's not to say we haven't already butted heads. We have to establish boundaries, and that's a work in progress.

His mom is very much a go go go kind of person. She is up by 6am no matter what day it is, and starts the day on the run. She doesn't stop until she goes to bed. I'm happy she has this kind of energy on the one hand, but on the other I really wish she'd learn how to relax a little.

She is also very opinionated on a wide variety of topics. Yesterday she told me I was stupid because I have 5 cross stitching projects in progress all at the same time. She doesn't understand it, because she doesn't do it herself. She views it as something that HAS to be finished in as short a period of time as possible. I don't like being told I am stupid, and I let her know that in as polite a way as possible. I told her that this is what I do, I appreciate her point of view but this is the way I work. She understood that I was putting my foot down with her, and she backed down. This is her home, and I will do things her way that pertain to the house. When it comes to my hobbies though, so long as I am not leaving them all over the house I really don't feel she has a say in it.

Boo got a call today about a job she applied for. It's seasonal work, but it's something to start. She will interview tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers crossed. She'll be fine, I know. I have faith!

Time to figure out dinner. We have some leftover Chinese food that may just become dinner.

It's difficult living under someone else's roof, having a disrupted routine, being in a new place. All of it. So, from where I sit, you're doing a good job with it all! HUGS

Wow, at least you had fun at the renn faire! I love those things. Also, at least you get along with your mother-in-law for the most part, even if you do butt heads. I would think it was odd if you never did. I'll have my fingers crossed for the interview!
