I feel like these past few weeks have been a bit lumpy and bumpy in places but it is now smoothing over again and I feel the balance is restoring. I am back on track.
Is is only 6am but today has been perfect so far. Off to the markets for supplies of free range eggs, fresh produce and seedlings for succession planting. And now I am home and breakfast / today's snacks are in the oven - my favourite - baked vegetables, particularly beetroot!
The weather is forecasting rain and storms for the next week so I visited mum and dad on their farm yesterday and picked up some large containers full of chicken manuer (they buy it by the truck load and stock pile it, so I get into it with a shovel). I want to have this spread over my entire yard and gardens before it rains later today so everything can have a good feed once it is watered in by the rain. The garden will virtually jump out of its skin when that happens!
I was able to give them some zucchinni from my garden and they gave me some tomatoes from theirs. I got mum that waterbottle she wanted and handed her my wish list for Christmas. We all decided that from now on we only buy each other something that is asked for and not just anything we think the other person will like. Here we are trying to clean out our houses of clutter and unused objects and we don't want any more coming in. My wish list was filled with garden items including a second worm farm as I am creating soil from my kitchen scraps and can't keep up with it so I need two on the go!
Here are my worms eating the scraps to create rich soil.
It's incredible to think that on worms and kitchen scraps alone I recently filled two large potplants full of soil (made solely by the worms eating the scraps) and am now growing my cucumbers out of it..... It is such a holistic and harmoneous approach and I love to live simply. A very rewarding experience for me indeed!
I am in my element at the moment as the garden (that I've put all that work and nurturing into) is producing abundently and I'm already giving produce away and today's visit to the markets was all about succession planting so I have a constant supply of food. I purchased 3 dozen seedlings of various varieties.
The 8 accumulative hours I have now spent in my garden since the beginning of November (my personal MOWVEMBER challenge) has already reaped incredible results. I'm astounded actually at what I have achieved in that short space of time.
My life feels pretty relaxed at the moment and my plans and personal strategies are all coming to fruition. I'm in a very good place. It is now time for me to relax, restore, replenish and revitalise - a week of good wholesome food, rest, exercise and healthy living is planned for.
Here are my latest zucchini and cucumber pickings ...........
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
