In the Healthy Zone is a Great Place To Be
Saturday, November 09, 2013
The house is perfectly silent, and my world is surrounded by fog at the moment. The sun is rising, and I can see the sunrise, but not far away is all the mysterious-looking fog. A peaceful way to begin the day, a nice day that I get to stay home all day.
I started out my day by logging onto Spark and getting my silly points, which for some reason is actually fun. I added a couple more things to my Goal Board, and I should just say here that I have grown to love the new start page, which I hated at first. I am a person who doesn't fall in love with change rapidly, but I have to admit that the new page IS fun and full of good stuff. Today I also looked at one of the reports, and was SO pleased to see that my weight and BMI now fall in the "Healthy" range. No more overweight or obese for me! I seem to be stuck and not losing, but I will not lose heart. If I have to be stuck for awhile, being stuck in the healthy zone (just not quite as low in the healthy zone as I want) is a grand place to be stuck.
I have really been enjoying the chance to workout more regularly at the "gym" I go to (which is actually a physical therapy place, but full of good machines.) My husband and I will be carpooling for awhile, I think, so this opportunity to workout there should continue for the foreseeable future. I'm thinking that perhaps it is time to get trained on some of the weight machines (at present, I just use the elliptical and the bike, and the hand weights.) I WANT to use the Pilates Reformer machine, but haven't gotten the OK yet from the lady in charge. I LOVE that machine, it is so fun!
Meandering from one topic to another, I am loving the goal board on this site because it is getting me moving on some other stuff in my life, not just diet and exercise. I am a person who loves scrapbooking, but almost never gets around to doing it. And I really have no excuse now (other than somewhat limited time), because my kids have moved out (well...not all their stuff, but that's another story!), and I have a whole room for scrapbooking and sewing. My college son had left a whole bunch of junk spread around in there, but due to the goal board I got myself in gear this last week and shoved his stuff into the other two rooms upstairs (which he also has dumped stuff all over--he pretty much took over the whole upstairs!). I got my room all spiffed up and vacuumed and dusted, and now it is ready to USE! So that is one thing I plan on doing this 3-day weekend: Start completing my goal that says: I will get at least two pages completed each week. I will get the album of my daughter's young years done by the end of 2013. I will get caught up on ALL my scrapbooking by the end of 2014. (That last goal may be a bit over-ambitious, but hey, I can shoot for it, right?)
The other thing I'm excited about is that Monday my son and I both have the day off. I have in my possession four gift cards that I have received at my work, for Subway, Dutch Brothers, and a great little Mexican restaurant. The two of us have talked about how it would be fun to take a long walking date together and have a kind of progressive dinner, using the gift cards. It will involve a walk of several miles, and should be a fun way to spend some time together, and burn off some of the calories we will be consuming. I may not be able to perfectly balance my carb/fat/protein ratios that day, or be 100% accurate in my calorie calculations, but I don't think that will matter. I have been SUPER strict with myself for a very long time, and am in the healthy zone, so I think I can let myself enjoy this date guilt-free. (Don't worry, the gift cards aren't for large amounts, so we really won't be over-indulging in a big way!)
My stomach is rumbling for its breakfast, so I will go feed it and then begin accomplishing stuff and enjoying the day. If anyone else reads this, I hope you enjoy YOUR day as well.
