Jim and I had a great time celebrating my birthday this week. Since I had to go to Nashville for chemo on my birthday, we decided to turn it into a celebration and spend the night there. We had so much fun with my brother and his wonderful wife eating together in a Greek resturant. Both my brother and his wife have a great sense of humor and we laughed and laughed over all kinds of things. I don't think I've laughed so hard or so much since I got diagnosed with cancer. That dinner was the perfect "medicine" for me!
The next morning, the weather was beautiful and Jim and I spent several hours riding along the Natchez Trace Parkway. The trees were so pretty with all the fall colors. The parkway is a part of the National Park System and is a very popular route for bicylists; it extends from Nashville to Tupelo Mississippi. I wanted to check it out for a future bicycle trip after I finish with all my treatments. We had a lot of fun driving along and imagining places where we could stop and picnic or camp overnight. The road is somewhat hilly right outside of Nashville, but I think we will be able to do it once I get my strength back. It will give me something to dream about and look forward to as I go through my treatments over the winter.
Today, I went back to yoga class for the first time since they put the port in my shoulder area. I had wanted to be sure it was completely healed before I did things like downward dog, etc. It was great to be back in the class. It's not a hard class as yoga classes go, so it's perfect for me right now.
It's an absolutely beautiful day here in Tennessee. It's so nice, we actually have the windows and doors open this afternoon. After living the last 30 years in the Chicago area, I'm really enjoying the fabulous fall weather here in Tennessee.
