Starting the comeback

Friday, November 08, 2013

Over the course of the last 365 days I have lost and found 30 pounds on my 5ft 4 frame. This time last year I hit the gym hard, ate very little was miserable but losing weight.

Then in April of this year I decided I needed a small break so I put myself on maintenance and boy did the pounds start itching to get back in.

In July I started training for a 1/2 marathon and I am proud to say I race that race two weeks ago in 2 hours and 43 minutes. But I did it at the expense of over training and injury.

You might wonder how one can gain weight while training for a 13.1 mile race. Well, let me tell you, I let my running become my excuse. "I ran 7 miles this morning, let's go out to Breakfast (and lunch and dinner)" and I did it repeatedly over and over again so that one year later, I am .4 pounds lighter than this day last year.

So here I am going to start my comeback. I got up and hit the gym this morning. Did a quick warmup on the elliptical then some squats with the kettle bell and some walking lunges. Coming back from an injury from the race so I am starting out slow. Then I did 35 minutes at 2.6mph and a 2% incline.

Just remember, every little bit counts.
