Day 7 November Challenge (November Rain)

Thursday, November 07, 2013

Well today started out rather rainy and although the rain is not a beautiful sunshiny day, this rainy day was beautiful in it's own. The rainy morning brought out the muted colors of what is left of the fall colors. The Earth tones were quite pretty on this dreary morning ride to work. I was happy to appreciate the beauty of such a scene. I really do have a lovely ride to work. For that I am grateful, I used to have about a 70 min stressful commute each way and now I have a 20 min back country road commute. I slow down for deer and turkey crossing the road. Yes! Downside, I have no health insurance. Upside, I have so much less stress in my life.

On the exercise front, I woke up in the middle of the night and had a sore throat. Oh O. It continued all day and I feel a little sloshy in the head. This is the typical start of a cold which turns to bronchitis for me. I was scheduled to run today but I passed on that in hopes that I can beat this thing. I did walk 30 minutes at 3.5 mph on the treadmill. I have a 10k race on Saturday and I need to try and beat the cold. My lungs are weak due to the asthma and I really have problems when I get sick. But, I have off tomorrow so I can get some extra rest. Woohoo!

I really wanted to do good in this race on Saturday. I will walk if I must. Having Asthma sucks and getting sick with Asthma is even worse. I will deal with it. Do what I can when I can with what I have. I should have called myself "Broken Lungs".

Well anyway, I try not to let it get me down and stop me. I have come too far to go back now. I will press on! Big Valley 10k here I come! Run On!

Get lots of vitamin c 1000 mg per day,, and if you run watch your breathing. Take the same length of time to breath in as you exhale.

I like how you appreciate the world around you even as you fight off a cold. I hope you feel better soon especially in time for the race.

I get bronchitis easy too. If I get a cold, it turns to bronchitis almost immediately.

Oh no, I hope you aren't really getting sick, or that you can at least stave it off until after your race!
