Margarine and shortening were invented originally as a way to fatten turkeys and the industry wanted to make more money so marketed as healthier than real butter. I still remember the song ...Momma's little baby loves Shortening shortening. and now we find out it is killing us. I am glad to see this come about. I have gone natural for many years now and use real butter sparingly and feel I'm healthier for it. I don't do packaged goods either.

Interesting that they are discussing it (and terrific! Maybe now they'll cop to what the actual problem in the American diet has been and it's not meat or regular fats at all!) but this is by no means a "ban"! Yet. *Sigh*
