In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
Today somewhere in Russia a space shuttle is being launched. So what? Well for a couple of months i have been planning to attend my first ever Geo caching event. This is where other Geo cachers gather to meet and talk with one another. I keep checking the web page and I notice more and more people reserve a spot – I also see how many caches they have. Six thousands and greater.... I now have 260 – no comparison.
Oh well I am going I want the virtual souvenir that goes onto my Geo caching web page once I attend.
Five and a half years ago I changed doctors when I moved to Squamish, my records never did follow me. So I contacted the doctors office and asked about them – they want fifty dollars and then I can have them. Wow expensive – but I want my new Doctor to have these – so off Noni and I drive to Delta BC to pay and collect my personal information. The receptionist hands me a brown envelope as I hand over cold hard cash as they wouldn't take cheques or credit or debit – had to be cash. I was expecting a box of files not a little envelope. When I jokingly enquired about being so small and I was expecting a huge box she said there were eighty pages back to back photo copies... Ah OK – I had seen along time ago a box of my files – it was relatively small before the head on car accident – after the accident my file became huge.. OK this is all of my medical life history recorded int a little brown envelope.. I hope my new doctor finds this useful for the remaining of my days.
Afterwards it was time to search for caches near the doctors office found about five – on one search I met the owner of the cache who was watching us search in the wrong spot. The hint said you might have to reach for it. I assumed that meant high up so I was looking in the tree branches and top of the high fence between the backyard and public park. Well between the fence and tree line there was a little ditch with a block retaining wall – down in that is where she placed the catch – so you had to bend down and reach down for it.. don't figure – I think most people just assume reach is always up not down... lesson learned...
She came out and began talking to us – helped me find it – told her I was going to the Geocaching in Space event tonight and where I was from – we had a long chat where she also revealed she was going also and that she had over twenty thousands caches...WOW!
Later we headed back to the Burnaby city inside Vancouver to be closer to the event area – stopped at Central Park and found to more caches.. must come back to this area – we stopped way to early – Noni was now tired of Geo caching – so off to the mall we went and wandered around a couple of hours. Not all wandering stopped off at the T&T supermarket and bought food to eat – sat – then went shopping again.
Finally it was almost time to go find the location of where the Geocaching in Space event was going to happen at. We move the car to a different location so I would not get a ticket being parked in the malls parking lot more than two hours – then went walking. Not too far but we were too early – there is a library – there is a cache here also – solving the puzzle of the cache we enter and I find the container inside the library and I sign the log book. We look around but I am so hot – I am dressed for the out doors – I am melting with the heat – I suffer.
We look around – this is a huge library I want to come back on a rainy day this winter to browse and enjoy.. but now it is time to go outside and meet the gathering of Geocachers.
