Yesterday I returned from a 3-day conference in Boston. In general, conferences make me really exhausted. I'm not a people-person and the constant listening and being in a room full of people makes me so very tired.
I didn't use the hotel gym at all, though I did bring my workout clothes. I got a lot of walking in (averaged nearly 17,000 steps each day) and figured that was enough.
I realized this time that I need to utilize better self care when I'm at these events. I should have exercised. I should have attended fewer sessions. I am a pretty strong introvert and long days of being around tens of thousands of people (literally -- over 13K people were at this conference!) makes me very grumpy. It's hard to be seen/network effectively when I'm a grumpalumpagous!
Now that I figured this out, I will do better next time. Promise!
