It's been a busy day, well, week . . .

Yesterday I did the ViniYoga dvd for upper back, neck & shoulders and really felt it . . . I just haven't had time to do the review yet . . . and probably that won't happen until next week.

DH is taking a couple days off. When he asked me what I wanted for my birthday (I'm 61 on Friday) present this year, I said YOU! I can't think of anything I'd rather have than time with him. So tomorrow we're planning to drive to the big city and have lunch at a hamburger joint recently featured in one of the cycle magazines and have some time together. We always have fun.

Today I stopped in to see a friend who volunteers at a senior thrift store. After we chatted a bit, I started looking around the store. (Did I mention that I hate to shop?!) I found several books for 25 cents each (same books on Amazon for $19!)

One of the things I'm gonna start doing is making bags (embellished grocery totes, etc.). I've acquired several and use them all the time . . . but they're just plain and boring. I've been looking at fabric and everything is SO expensive and I didn't like the fabric. Well, today walking through the thrift store, I happened to notice a dress made out of this really cute fabric. It was one of those long 'super size' tent dresses and I knew there'd be plenty material to make at least one bag, if not two.

When I took the dress and books up to the register, I mentioned I didn't see a price tag on the dress. "All dresses are $2 a piece . . . . or eight for $5." Eight for five dollars!!!! I hit the rack again and there were several similar dresses in all sorts of denim!! Woohoo! I really hit the jackpot!

But my treasure for today was a brand new Michael Kors hobo leather handbag for $2 . . .

yes, like the one for $1195 on their website.

Be still my heart!

The thrift store I go to has almost everything half price on the last Wednesday of the month. If they were good prices before, at half price the prices are amazing!

You thrift store sounds great! At the one I go to, if they have a coach purse or other name brand item, they jack up the price and put it behind a glass display. WTG with your great buys, post a pic of your grocery bags when you make them!

I am terrible at shopping and avoid it at all costs. Thank you so much for the inspiration! I really need to try being adventurous enough to hit up the thrift stores!

Isn't it great the bargains you can find at the thrift store?

I've scored some very nice slacks and sweaters, some with their tags still on them. Both the Salvation Army and Goodwill (and probably St. Vincent de Paul, I don't get to that one) get donations from stores that don't keep their unsold inventory off season. And the thing about that is that just as you think you need something for a season, the next one is being stocked in the stores, so that when you thrift store shop, you don't even have to wait for the appropriate season to roll around...

I also usually grab any wool items that I see, you can make some amazing things with them if you do some felting. Plus I just like wool to wear.

Have a good weekend with the hubby and Happy Birthday!!

Oh my goodness! Can you imagine someone giving a brand new Michael Kors bag to a thrift shop? You were really lucky, and I'm sure the bags you are making will be emoticon pretty and useful.

JUMP BACK! What a great day and early birthday hugs to you. I agree, I love spending time with my DH just cruising around. Alas our bikes are away for winter storage. His new bike got recalled so I put mine way when his got picked up.

Till next year!

Congrats on a great day!
