According To Joe..............

The Joe I'm referring to is Joe Kita and an article in "Health" a Reader's Digest book.

According to an article titled "Keep Water in the tank" being underhydrated can make you act and feel older. For a sharp mind, smooth skin, better health, and fluid movement, you need water. But , according to Joe, forget about the 8 X 8 rule (eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily). Healthy eaters, get all the water they need from the foods they eat and what they drink (that includes tea and coffee, but not alcoholic beverages) If you're thirsty though you should drink up. If you've worked up a sweat exercising, are in a hot climate, or, taking medications, you may need to drink more than usual.

My feeling is that water is probably better for us and it seems it wouldn't work our kidney as hard as tea, coffee or colas.

    Interesting blog and comments. I live in a very dry climate so water is a big key for me. I feel better when I get the at least 6 glasses but sometimes it takes 10 or 12 for me to feel hydrated. emoticon

    I just drink water all day long. I drink hot tea in the morning and at night, but water all day long.

    They say that about vitamins too.... if you're eating right - there's no need to take a multi vitamin or supplements....

I take a multi every day...

I drink 4-10 glasses of water a day (I couldn't imagine not drinking water!!).

They also say - like if you drink a soda - diet or regular...
you should add another glass of water to your day as that soda dehydrates you..

There's so many different opinions and advise out there, isn't there???

    I drink tea and coffee but if that is all I drink in a day I can tell in the evening I need water. My body will yell at me, producing dry lips and retaining more water, and tired, less motivated. I vote for 8 X 8.

    There is also significant risk from OVER Hydration. More runners die from hyonatremia, too little sodium in the system which is caused by over hydration.

  I would think that when exercising, or in hot climate you need to rehydrate your body with water. I also use coconut water if i have hiked really hard and need something and it works wonders! low calorie for all its benefits too.!
