Shorter is Better!

Wednesday, November 06, 2013

emoticon No, I'm not talking about my height! But although I am a shorty, I don't mind -- saves me hitting my head so often.

I'm talking about emoticon emoticon and as an impatient person I am tired of seeing I'm so far away from my goal. I've decided to make my goal a little less for the time being, or maybe I should say a little 'more' in pounds. I've more or less been in maintenance for the past two years, so instead of saying my goal is 125 and I will reach it when I get there -- I've changed it to 135 and hope to get there by the end of the year. Maybe it's reaching a little high, but it will give me more incentive that way. I haven't weighed in at 135 since 1990!!

Way back when I used to have a goal of just half a pound per week. It was realistic and I was able to make that goal. Then I reached a plateau and nothing seemed to be able to get me past the lowest so far of 136.6 -- so close, but as we've all been told; Close Only Counts in Horseshoes! Actually that isn't completely true, I'd much rather be in the 130's even if it is the high end, than back in the 140's or 150's, so getting closer is important.

It will be hard to do with the holidays, but perhaps it is just the incentive I need!!

Good idea. When I started I set the final goal but I always set an interim goal of 10 pounds. Small steps to a big reward. emoticon

I'm not going to use the word if. WHEN you reach your modified goal (which will be sooner than later, if you ask me), you can reevaluate. I have faith in you!

You will do it. You know you will. When you want something bad enough you go after it. Just take one day at a time. emoticon emoticon

You will get there, and much better to set yourself a smaller more realistic goal than to become discouraged by lack of progress towards to final goal. emoticon emoticon

No questions, Eve, that you can do it. emoticon

Shorter is better, I agree. I call it "baby steps". Sometimes we set our sites to high, and get discouraged when we don't reach them. Then what happens ~ we give up. emoticon

Our saying here is "close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades".

I think you look great. emoticon

Yup!! Closer is better! I need to rethink my goals, too. I'm doing the 5% challenge again, but the wind has escaped my sails and I'm sure not to make it this time. But would like to set a goal to make for then end of the year! There are 8 weeks left from today to Jan.1. If I can muster a 0.5 pound loss per week, I could be 4 pounds lighter by New Year! From right now, that would take me to 148. And as you said about the 130's, I feel about the 140's right now! Rather be in 140's than 150's, though this was a fabulous achievement for me and I am enjoying this weight (but only for a little while and I'm ready to enjoy being a bit smaller now!) hhe
Let's do this together, my friend! Only wish I could join you and Amber for some walkies in person, but we'll just have to do the best we can virtually!!
Have a fabulous day! Here's to you making 135 and me, 148 by Dec. 31 ( or Jan.1)!! It Can be done!! I know we can do this together!! ((HUGS))
